EASTER WEEKEND BALI

EASTER WEEKEND BALI

Great weekend lined up, the spot for tonight is Azul Beach Club for OMAR, who is undoubtedly the don of UK neo soul music, excited to see him perform again, as well as Hallex and Sunlightsquare. Should be a wicked evening.

I’m looking forward to laying down a super soulful sunset session, kicking off at 5pm.

WOW. Still on a high from such a great weekend at Bali Spirit Festival. Some awesome live acts like Zap Mama, Brooklyn Gypsies and Emmanuel Jal with Kamau rocked my world <3 Much love to Meg and Rob and the whole Bali Spirit crew, i was honoured to be asked to play the closing set for a second night... Two of the most fun and joy filled sets I've ever had the pleasure to play, mad vibes!!!! Terima kasih!! balispiritlineup

<3 this pic taken at the top of Mt Vic, on one of those awesome Wellington days. The sun was shining and the roots stage from Homegrown Festival was audible in the background, and later that night Fat Freddy's Drop smashed out a killer set in front of thousands. Big up!

MORE WELLI GIGS AND FUN..

A few more Wellington gigs before heading back to the hotness…..

Kicking off a rather large Wellington weekend in proper style, the 4 to the floor freaks to came out to play ???? ?? at Laundry with Jedi and Son of Sesh <3 content

The following night was Homegrown Festival on the waterfront, I spent most of the day in the safety of the Roots backstage area, then rolled down to Matterhorn for a night of hearty throwbacks and wobbly back 2 backs with mi amigos B-Lo and Kava, and many many kiwi music lovelies who survived the festival made it for afters and after afters 😉

throwbacks

A final knees up at fave spot Laundry, and what better way to celebrate (the day after) International Women’s Day, than to join 9 of Wellington’s wonderful female DJs and singers joining forces for an all night long tag team of funky ass vinyl selections! It was the first time these 3 all girl Wellington/Bali/Spain based possees have performed together EVER, and was such a joyous occasion <3 birds

TANIWHA’S DEN

TANIWHA’S DEN

Stoked to be invited to play for the second time at this festival in the woods outside of Martinborough on Waitangi Day.
Awesome to see how it has progressed from last year, with more people (around 400), bigger and better sound system, rad visuals and setup, and a passionate crew and crowd creating a wicked vibe. I smashed out a set of house, acid and electronic noises around 10pm to a solid dancefloor warmed up by me old mate Redbird, and had the best time!

Psychemagik in Wellington

Psychemagik in Wellington

Back to my hometown of Wellington for a couple of months over summer…well they call it summer but it appears to be winter. Anyhoo! It is lovely to be back.

Stoked to be asked to warm up for Psychemagik at Meow. I’m a HUGE fan of their compilations, they get a proper bashing over many a sunset in Bali.

Was a wicked night with an intimate dancefloor and good vibes all night. Big ups to Strange Behaviour for continuing to bring quality acts to Wellington.

Japan!!

Japan!!

I jumped on the opportunity to spend a few weeks djing in a ski resort town in Nagano recently. It was my first time in Japan, so i spent a week in Tokyo on the way there. Anything and everything you could ask for in a city. Special mention to Que Sakamoto, Max Essa and Ken Hikada for the brilliant music.

Onto Hakuba in Nagano, 5 hours west of tokyo and into the snow, and the most beautiful place i’ve ever been, truly stunning! Possibly the most random dj gig in my career, but a great experience, sometimes we have to go way out of our comfort zone to challenge ourselves! Shouts to Tarsha, Josh and Billy, for convincing me to learn how to ski again, and keeping me (semi) sane.
